It is so hard to keep up with Lucy these days. She says at least 20 funny things daily! I can't even come close to remembering them all, but I try. Her speaking skills have skyrocketed over the past 6 months. She usually uses complete sentences with good grammar and loves to include new big words she learns. I have read her Fancy Nancy books the past couple days and now she tries to say things like "That is strodinary" trying to say extraordinary, and she likes to say "I am furious" instead of mad. It's funny. She still makes some cute little mistakes like saying "my" instead of "I" sometimes, but they are getting much fewer and I miss some of them. The other day I heard her say "I want to do it by myself" and I was crushed because I love how she used to say " I want to do it my byself." Oh well, it is always a little bittersweet as they grow. She has also started using lots of adult expressions and it cracks me up when it comes out of such a little girl. Well I will write a few of the cute things I remember from the past couple days.
She just woke up from a nap and had so much to say "I had a good dream, not a bad one. I played with Jack ... and Kate...and Madilyn and Papa and Mommo and Heidi and Gumba and Lani." I was surprised. Usually I ask her if she had a good dream or a bad dream and she says bad. Then I ask what it was about and she says "I don't know," then I give her a few choices and she picks one. This time she woke up just bursting to tell me about it.
I am pretty sure she has crazy dreams. This morning she started yelling in her sleep "catch me mommy!" so I answered back "Don't worry, I'll catch you" and then she kept sleeping. Sure wish I knew what was going on in that little brain sometimes.
This was the FUNNIEST one from the past week: I put her on the toilet and told her to do some tinkles. I guess I missed that she had already gone because she answered:
"I can't. My tinkles are in the toilet's tummy." I have never mentioned the toilet having a tummy before, so I thought the connection she made was hilarious!
On Monday she was sick, so I let her O.D. on T.V. I think Yo Gaba Gaba is really weird, but apparently Lucy loves it because while watching it she said "I want to go there" I asked her "Where" and she answered "In the T.V." Then at the end of the show she said "That was so fun watching Yo Gaba Gaba, huh Mommy?" Of course, I pretended like it was really fun. I remember pretending we were part of the shows on T.V., of course, I was a lot older than Lucy.
I can't remember what she was asking for the other day, but she asked for something and before I could respond she prompted me the way i always prompt her "Say 'Sure" Mommy"
She has also started saying "How 'bout you?" The other day I asked her if she could draw and "L". She answered "I can't. How 'bout you?"
Lucy loves to find the letter L, M and W. She gets really excited and says "Mommy, look what I found! L for Lucy (or M for Mommy! W for Wendy)"
Sometimes Lucy will ask me to do something and I will say "Why?" She usually responds by saying "The monster will get you. You better." For example, Lucy is really bothered by the fact that everyone she knows says "Oh my Gosh" but me and Dave don't. We just decided a long time ago to eliminate negative euphemisms from our vocabulary. I don't tell Lucy not to say them, but I just don't. Well, it bothers her and the other night she was telling me to say "Oh my Gosh" I said "Why" and she answered "Cuz the monster git you if you not say that" I promise I have never convinced her to do something by saying a monster will get her if she doesn't. Hmmmm.....maybe I should talk to Dave about that one. I will check into it...
The other night I read that book that goes "I'll love you forever. I'll like you for always. As long as I'm living my baby you'll be." I always start crying at the end, especially if I read it aloud. Well, that really upset Lucy. I tried to tell her that I wasn't sad, but she broke down crying and then said "My heart hurts and I'm crying. I have tears. Put 'um back" I put her tears back one time and now she always wants me to.
Lucy reads books to herself and it is really cute. She just talks about the pictures and then at the end she says "Amen" I love how she says "Amen" for "The end" it's so funny.
I have been watching the Foulger kids for the past week and the other night, Jack was crying because he got hurt right before the dinner prayer. Lucy told me "We should bless Jack he'll be happy." I asked her if she would say the prayer and it was so sweet "Thank you that Jack be happy and healthy. Jesus Christ. Amen" Then I remind her to bless the food "and thank you the food. Amen" She has really started understanding other people's emotions and really cares about them. She even tells me sometimes "Watch out. Be really careful Mommy. Might bump your head" if my head is close to a light or something. And she asks about everyone in the pictures in her books "Why are they mad, why are they sad?" It's sweet.
Here is the last conversation I can remember right now. When I was reading her the Butterfly Fancy Nancy book there is a part where it says "Bree is Heartbroken" Lucy says "Ohhhhh poor Bree. Let's help her." I then ask if we should give her a hug, so Lucy hugs the book. Then Lucy says "It didn't work. Her heart is still broken." Then I ask Lucy "what should we do?" she decides "Let's put medicine on it" then she pretends to put some medicine on it and says "There now it's fixed"
So most of these were probably funnier to me than you, but hopefully they are still enjoyable for someone who isn't a doting mother!
