MOM
I have been doing some little reading and writing lessons with Lucy lately, wondering if anything is really sinking in. Well, last week I drew some "m"s and asked her to draw her own. After working on it for a minute, she says "Look mom! Read it." When I looked at the first word she had ever written on her own I just squealed with joy, praised my daughter with kisses and then almost cried! That little girl sure knows how to make her Mama happy! What a special calling to be a mother. I am so very thankful to be Lucy's Mother.

Rapunzel Rapunzel let down your hair!
So My sister Heidi was looking at the pictures on my camera the other day and started cracking up because I had done such a photo shoot of Rapunzel's tower. I will admitt, I am kind of obsessed with the movie. I love it and can't wait for it to come out on video (and if you know me I own about 10 DVD's and don't plan on having collection, so the fact that I want to buy it says a lot!)
So I decided to make a Rapunzel tower because Lucy wanted one. I let her help me paint and glue it. It was a lot of work and it is very not like me. I am not painty. I am not gluey. I am not artistic. I am not crafty. Wow! It turned out great. It looks artistic! There are vines. I painted bricks and vines. Maybe I am crafty. Maybe I just think that because no one else made one that I can compare it to and realize that I am not artistic. Lucy loves it and that is all that matters.
Anyway, I had to document this crafty moment.
I also wanted to say a special thank you to Cassie and Steven Daines for bestowing the small Rapunzel on us. (Steve it was soooooo great to see you and Cassie you pick amazing presents and hope to see you soon too! Cooper keep up the great work! Only 20 more years and you might be able handle this little woman!)As you can see the big doll, didn't fit and Lucy was torn up over it once I glued the roof on. I made a braid out of yarn and was looking for a little doll to glue it on, but I really prefer the real thing! We now play with little Rapunzel every day and big Rapunzel is her Mommy. It is awesome! I am so glad I have Lucy to share my Rapunzel obsession with!
Look big Rapunzel fits as long as there is no roof
Oh no the roof is on.
We can pretend the braid is hanging out of the tower. (It was Lucy's idea to put it on the chair so the tower would be taller)
Pretty much finished!
Added a yarn braid, plus put it in a magical forest!
Now we have little rapunzel! Yay! A match made in heaven! Perfect to scale!

Hopefully it is really Labor Day!
I just realized that I never posted any pregnancy shots this entire pregnancy, so now that I am due in 2 days and in honor of Labor Day (Ha ha) I better do it quick! Just took these a few minutes ago(well Dave did, not me).
I am really sticking it out in this one, so I figured I better include one with normal posture, too...
I really meant to post a few shots along the way...let's face it I will probably always be a procrastinator. A few minutes ago I got a strong contraction and what did I think about... oh no I never took any real pregnancy pictures or posted them, quick Dave get the camera...you would think I would be more worried because I haven't even packed a hospital bag yet! As if Labor wouldn't be exciting enough if you were prepared...
The funny thing is my water broke at 11:50 p.m. on Labor day three years ago. I was sooooo excited. I had been hoping to go into Labor on Labor day all day and had finally given up. Let's see if we can make this Labor on Labor Day # 2!
HAPPY LABOR DAY from your friend who hopes she is in Labor!

Fashion Statement!!!!
So on Monday, Lucy found one of her Aunty Sierra's lovely frocks and was trying to put it on. Then inspiration struck and we both played dress up for a little while. I began wondering about the latest fashions.
First things first, is this a shirt or a dress?
Why is this frock so strange...it then dawned on me...something a little familiar...ah yes, it's a maternity shirt! Why the new fashion for high school girl's is to wear maternity shirts is beyond me, but nevertheless, there is no other explanation for the baggy saggy midsection.
And then there is the random clingy mini skirt strip at the bottom, which is just an annoying attempt at sexy...of course, when you pose like that you look sexy no matter what, right? My sister says some girls wear these without leggings underneath. Yuck, ew, make me gag! Are you kidding me? Please be kidding... has it really been that long since I was in high school? I graduated 6 1/2 years ago, but now it feels like 20!
But I am not one to rant without proof, and here it is folks! After feeling slightly like a pumpkin in this lovely frock, I decided to see how many pillows I could stuff up it... it took 3, the cute rigid kind you decorate your couch with (yeah, don't tell my mom I defiled her nice sofa pillows!)

Okay, can you tell I've been away from Dave too long (please come home soon or the fashion police is sure to lock me away! I mean it doesn't get much closer to a tellatubby!)? This is what happens when I don't have my other half, the sane half...or is it possibly just because me and Lucy with my two sisters still living at home, plus a third sister home for the holidays, without my brother who is desperately stranded in Hawaii (always complaining about his eternal surfing fate as you can imagine!)and then minus Dave in Korea, equals six girls living in one house with my way too outnumbered father?!! Yeah sounds like way too much fun, huh?
A short story that must be included: During the taking of this picture the neighbor and his son came out. I looked over and said "Hi." They laughed and greeted me. They have 2 sons, so to make fun of my ridiculous getup I asked "aren't you glad you don't have a house full of girls?" Anyway, I was a little embarrassed to be caught in this outfit, especially in this pose! We hurried to the backyard for the rest of the photoshoot (don't know why I didn't think of that in the first place).
Dressing like a tellatubby does, however, make a good shelf for carrying a wee one!!
Okay I made it look a lot worse than it really is. I was just in a silly mood and must give my many apologies to my sister for my attack on her wardrobe.
Well, I couldn't leave Lucy out. She wanted to try it on pretty badly. So first we put on her orange leggings. We realized that Lucy looked so good she was practically the inspiration behind Dr. Seuss's magical thneads! (Ever wondered what a thnead really is? I'm pretty sure this is as close as it gets.)
I think orange is her color.
Next, the frock...
Showing a little leg...
And then, oh the drama.... ( This one speaks Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra to me:"Give me my robe, put on my crown; I have Immortal longings in me." - William Shakespeare, Antony and Cleopatra, 5.2 )
Like mother like daughter, I guess. More than ever this week Lucy's theatrical genius seems to be saturating her personality! (This picture was a toss up between the woes of Hamlet and Oedipus, the part where he realizes he married his Mom. We'll go with Hamlet: "Speak no more;Thou turn'st mine eyes into my very soul"- William Shakespeare, Hamlet, 3.4 It's either that or some serious opera gone wrong!lol!)
Lucy says: Did you like my performance? I sure thought it was funny!
And then she was stuffed.
Well, we couldn't dress her up without going the entire mile! And does she not look like she knows how cute she is(?), even if she can't walk with three pillows stuffed up her shirt!
I sure love this bundle of joy and guess I should mention, since it is T-day evening (my tummy is agreeing with happy pie gurglings), I couldn't be more thankful to be loaned this little girl to raise. Although many a moment throughout the day I forget it, I remember right now, so I will shout it (as much as you can shout on a website) I am thankful to be a mom! I am thankful to have a Lucy, spaghetti face kisses and all! She is my joy and has made my life one-hundred times more fulfilling than I ever thought possible. I will keep this short and won't even start with how thankful I am for her father (just the smallest things like his calming and optimistic presence that I so often took for granted, I am especially thankful for these days...mmmm...Dave...okay, short...I promised).

LOVE-it's the only word to describe it!

Twins
Well, with a title like that you just had to click and find out...sorry to burst your bubble, no I'm not pregnant with twins (well, hopefully I didn't just jinx myself)...Lucy and I were just wandering the streets looking for our twins...this was the closest we could find...
Bet you can't guess which baby belongs to which mother?

PINA COLLADA
This is Me and Lucy on Easter trying out a sweet new "do" with her beautiful growing hair. The rest of this post has nothing to do with the picture, but posts are always better with pictures so enjoy!

Tuesday night I decided to be really creative with some left over coconut milk from a yummy dinner over the weekend. PINA COLLADAS!!! Yum. Those are my favorite! So I mixed Pineapple juice+ Coconut milk+banana+vanilla. It turned out decent, but something was just lacking, it didn't quite have the pina collada taste, but a decent smoothie. 1/2 hour later I decided to clean out the fridge and get all those yucky moldy things out that I had basically just been keeping in their because I didn't want to clean them and I was secretly hoping David would see them and say "Oh, moldy things in the fridge, I should clean these!" as husbands commonly do. As I begin, I see the coconut milk...uh oh! If that is the coconut milk, what did I put in the smoothies. It was something white and milkish. I think about it for a moment, and then I see the moldy leftover pumpkin from pumpkin pudding I made about 2 1/2 months ago (David and I kept joking we were just saving it and letting it grow for Lucy's science experiment in sixth grade, because neither of us ever wanted to take it out and clean it!) I mixed the pumpkin with evaporated milk for the pudding, and the stuff I put in the smoothies definitely could have been evaporated milk. I raced through my mind trying to think of something else I made with evaporated milk and I can't think of anything! That is really gross! I run out and tell David not to drink his second helping of smoothie, because I don't want him to die from super old food gross germs! I am still not really sure if that is what I put in the smoothies because if it was that old I would have thought it would taste and smell gross. Oh well, 2 days later we are still feeling okay! I guess we lucked out! David is still laughing over what I did, with that "what else can I say, that is my wife!" kind of grin! Just thought I would share one of my classic "blond" moments! Although my hair seems much darker since having Lucy, I guess your true color never fades from your personality! Wish me luck on my next Pina Collada session!

Sweet Photo Shoot
I was just mentioning how I was a photoholic in the last post and well there is really nothing else to be said about this photo shoot. My sister had these sunglasses that were too small for her and once I tried them on Lucy, it was all over. I knew there would be another photo shoot soon! So Monday we went down to the beach again, this time prepared with props. I think taking pictures of Lucy is my new hobby. I am so ridiculous, but of course, I had to share them!
And you think you are cool...
What a little poser! We have got a little disco fever going on!
What's the rush...
How's my suntan mom?
Don't look at me like you think I'm cute.
Life just couldn't get any better...
I'm just tickled pink.
Peekaboo! Here I am!
Sun...Sand....you gotta love it!
Come on in the water is fine.
I really can't think of any more cute sayings... so here is the rest of the shoot just playing down at the water.

Thank you for indulging me!

Keep smiling!

More new experiences for Lucy
Although it doesn't really compare to the beach...Lucy had her first trip to costco yesterday!
It was also her first ride in the basket, which she really loved. One of Lucy's favorite things is kicking her feet and she really seemed to love riding while being able to kick her feet as much as she wanted to. Here is a great moment we caught on camera because lets face it I am pretty much a photoholic, if there is such a thing! You can see a little bit of the cute rug we bought for Lucy's room. I think I might be nearing completion of decorating her room (and I guess now that she is almost 6 months it is about time).
These are some sample ladies who were just googling over Lucy, so I decided to document it (you know you are a photoholic when you take pictures of sample ladies!). The ladies were thrilled when I told them it was Lucy's first time there and I wanted a picture with them. They told her maybe she could come be a sample lady here some day. Maybe...you never know!
And here we are blogging away. Lucy hates it when we do this because she wants to touch the keyboard in the worst way! I let her play with it once, but she started opening up files I didn't even know we had, so I decided there would be no more of that!

Living it up at the Beach
Kind of last minute, Lucy and I decided to take a visit to San Diego, while David traveled to Colorado with the Track team to help film Mountain West Conference (I definitely got the better end of the deal!). We arrived yesterday evening and headed straight for the beach today!

Here's Lucy just chilling! She may have been born in Utah, but this girl comes from a long line of California girls and I think she will fit right in!
We watched Grandma Jen play volleyball. She is really good! I think Lucy (or her parents) already started dreaming of becoming a volleyball star while watching, especially if she stays in the 95 percentile for height. Okay...give me a break...you can't help, but dream of a full ride some day!
It was sunny and probably about 70 degrees. It felt soooooo good... almost like falling in love all over again! This was the day I have been craving for at least two months. It is times like this that make me want to shout "I love this world!"

Lucy loved it! She got so excited when I took her to the water and don't even get me started about scaring the seagulls!

In this picture Lucy hasn't decided to taste the sand yet. Just as we were saying "Wow, I can't believe she has gone this long with her hands in the sand and not tried any," that she decided it looked yummy!
